KUALA LUMPUR, Jan. 27: Twenty people, including nine foreigners, were arrested this afternoon in connection with illegal online gambling activities at six premises in Puchong Utama Industrial Park, Bukit Puchong, Selangor.
Subang Jaya District Police Chief ACP Abd Khalid Othman said the suspects included 11 locals, ages 48 to 62, while the rest are nationals of Myanmar and Bangladesh.
He said that during the 5:30 p.m. operation, the police seized RM 5,060 cash, 11 phones, 50 pieces of printed paper, 10 mobile printers and two pens, among other things.
“Preliminary investigations showed that the premises have been in operation for three to four months.
“Online games of chance were carried out without a license in the premises. One of the suspects, a woman, had been arrested three times, including today, for the same case, ”he said at the scene of the attack.
Abd Khalid said all suspects were being taken to Subang Jaya District Police Department for further investigation.
“They were also arrested under Section 22 (B) of the Infectious Diseases Prevention and Control Act 1988 for violating the Movement Control Ordinance,” he said. – Bernama
