Dublin, February 22, 2021 – flutter Entertainment plc today announced the introduction of a series of proactive measures for its operations in Ireland to update its safer gambling guidelines and reduce the potential for harm. The measures include a commitment of 1% of the Net Gaming Revenue (NGR) to support the research, education and treatment of problem gambling Prohibition of using credit cards on online and retail accounts of customers as well as a pre-Watershed whistle-to-whistle advertising ban that restricts advertising in live sports.
These measures are complemented by a number of pre-existing measures to facilitate intervention when signs of harmful gaming behavior are detected through artificial intelligence and human surveillance. (see notes for the editor)

New measures are to be introduced
Flutter brands in Ireland, including Paddy Power, Betfair and Sky Bet, do not accept credit card payments from customers on any online customer account and in Paddy Power shops.
Customers who currently have a credit card as their active payment method will need to replace that payment method with an available alternative. The implementation of the required technology
Changes will occur in the next 6 weeks and the ban is expected to take effect from early April.
From May 1ststFlutter will put a restriction on television advertising for all live sports before 9 p.m. This ad removal includes live sporting events such as GAA, soccer, rugby, golf, tennis, boxing, basketball, athletics, American football, darts, and motor sports and is performed from 5 minutes before the event to 5 minutes after the event. This does not apply to horse racing or greyhound racing.
Flutter will significantly increase its donations to Irish Safer Gambling Organizations over the next three years. By 2023 1% of Flutter’s net gaming revenue (NGR) is generated by Irish customers Initiatives for research, training and treatment of gambling problems. On the basis of the NGR achieved in 2020, this results in a contribution of around € 1.25m that Flutter will rise to around € 3 million in 2023. Flutter is already contributing € 450,000 Established the Gambling Awareness Trust in Ireland. The commitment to donate 1% of the NGR will be used to increase this contribution to the Gambling Awareness Trust and support new initiatives across the country.

These measures will complement existing measures that Flutter has put in place in recent years to ensure that customers in Ireland are provided with a safe environment to play, even before a regulator is in place.
Flutter has invested heavily in a predictive model that uses behavioral analysis to predict the likelihood of someone suffering harm related to gambling. This model is constantly renewed and updated.
In 2020, Flutter also conducted a comprehensive analysis of the impact of the Covid-19 pandemic on gaming behavior. Overall, the number of customers found to be at risk for problem gambling did not increase, and Flutter was able to quit as wellIrish customers have the “void cancellation until withdrawal” option.
Flutter has also raised safer gambling signage across all marketing channels, helped establish Safer Gambling Week in Ireland, and developed solid policies and governance structures to ensure safe gambling is firmly anchored at the heart of its business.
